Why is it not recommended to use electric hoists for freight elevators?
1. Power Dependency
Issue:Electric hoists rely on a constant power supply.
Impact:In case of a power outage or electrical failure, the hoist becomes inoperable unless a backup power system is in place.
2. Maintenance Complexity
Issue:Electric hoists have motors, gears, and electrical components that require regular maintenance.
Impact:More frequent and skilled maintenance is needed compared to manual hoists or hydraulic systems, increasing operating costs.
3. Limited Flexibility in Use
Issue:Electric hoists are generally fixed to a certain point or track.
Impact:Not ideal if you need mobile or highly adaptable lifting solutions within the elevator shaft or loading zones.
4. Risk of Overheating
Issue:Prolonged or intensive use can overheat the motor.
Impact:May lead to downtime, reduced lifespan, or even safety hazards if overheating protections fail.
5. Electrical Hazards
Issue:Faulty wiring or exposed components pose shock or fire risks.
Impact:Safety protocols and inspections are critical to mitigate these dangers.
6. Capacity Limitations
Issue:While electric hoists come in various load ratings, they may not be suitable for extremely heavy loads without costly upgrades.
Impact:May not meet the lifting requirements for certain industrial or heavy-duty cargo applications.
